Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any out of pocket costs?
We accept Medicare insurance plans including PPO plans and some HMO plans from commercial insurances. Primary plans cover 80% of the cost and if the patient has a secondary insurance or Medicaid this covers the remaining 20%. If anyone is experiencing financial hardship, we offer financial options for this. If someone is covered under an HMO Medicare Advantage plan then depending on their plan there may be limited visits and higher copays depending on the plan they chose.
Outpatient vs Home Health
If a facility is not used to having Outpatient Services it is easy to mix up the real difference between Home Health and Outpatient. Home Health is a medical service that is primarily used to bridge services from the Hospital to the Home. It is generally used for acute/sub-acute medical conditions when a facility is not medically trained or capable to handle by themselves, for example certain wounds, catheter management etc. Home Health functions under Medicare part A which is connected with (Hospital Insurance). Outpatient Rehab functions under Medicare Part B. This part of Medicare is budgeted by the government to cover Preventative and Rehabilitation when a client is medically stable and does not need increased medical care from nursing. Outpatient is the most cost effective way for Medicare to provide rehab treatment. Because it is more cost effective, rehab can be provided with many more visits and increased treatment times if needed in comparison to Home Health. Because of these reasons, Outpatient rehab is the primary choice when an Assisted Living facility wants more preventative and direct rehabilitative care to be provided to their residents.
Can a person receive both OT and PT?
Yes through Outpatient a facility can utilize both PT and OT for their residents simultaneously including maintenance and preventative programs to be carried out throughout the year. Each rehab discipline will work on various areas of need for the client. We strive to provide the most comprehensive level of treatment possible for our clients.
